Cavendish Farm Breaks Ground with Facility in Alberta
North American food processing company Cavendish Farms has broken ground on a new CAD360m (USD292.7m) frozen potato processing facility in Alberta province, Canada.

The plant will be built in Lethbridge where about 400 construction jobs are expected to be created during the peak phase, according to the local press.
Construction of the facility is expected to be completed by 2019 summer.

McCain Opens New USD65m Production Line
McCain Foods Ltd., the world’s largest manufacturer of frozen potato products, has opened its new USD65m potato specialty production line at its flagship facility in Florenceville-Bristol, N.B.

The new 35,000 sqf production line is the company’s largest capacity expansion investment in Canada in nearly 10 years, McCain Foods said.
“Florenceville continues to be the French fry capital of the world,” said Jeff DeLapp, president of North America for McCain Foods. “The official opening of the new production line reflects McCain's ongoing commitment to invest in the needs of our consumers and customers today and also the company’s focus toward future product development and innovation.”

Lamb Weston Expands Operations in Richland
Lamb Weston Holdings celebrated the completed expansion of its operations in Richland, Washington, USA.

The USD200m investment announced in 2016 adds a new processing line to the existing facility, increasing the company’s processing capacity for making frozen French fries. The expansion adds approximately 150 jobs to the local economy.
During a special grand opening ceremony, Lamb Weston President and CEO Tom Werner was joined by Washington State senator Sharon Brown of Richland, President and CEO of the Tri-Cities Economic Development Council (TRIDEC) Carl Adrian, and Lamb Weston Richland employees to commemorate the occasion.
