Urschel is the global leader in food cutting technology. The company manufactures and sells commercial cutting equipment to the food processing and allied industries. With over 50 models offered, all machines are made to exacting standards at our 100% employee owned advanced manufacturing facility in Chesterton, Indiana.
 
We are seeking experienced candidates for the position of Buyer. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the person in this role will be responsible for the buying and expediting functions for purchased product and services. Primary job duties include:
 

• Execution of the procure-to-pay process for purchased parts, including but limited to power transmission items, contract manufacturing, electrical components;
• Maintenance of part master records;
• Implementation of competitive bid processes where feasible;
• Identification of alternate sources for critical components;
• Utilization of cost reduction and price analysis methods to obtain best value of purchased product.

 
The ideal candidate will have operations experience in a manufacturing setting, 5 years’ experience in a Buyer role, and be willing to travel on a limited basis.  Applicants must possess excellent communication talents, must be of an analytical mindset, must be able to research and make purchase decisions, and have proven ability to foster productive relationships with coworkers and suppliers.  An undergraduate degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering is preferred.
