Urschel Employees Travel to the International Space Station (ISS)

(Updated February 20, 2017) - In October of 2016, a team from Calumet College of St. Joseph turned to Urschel to assist in overcoming some design hurdles pertinent to an Alzheimer’s experiment.  It centers around how the peptide associated with Alzheimer’s behaves in the absence of gravity. The experiment is scheduled to launch on a SpaceX rocket in April. The date and time for the launch are weather dependent.
 
As a thank-you to the company, Dr. Sandra Chimon-Peszek Rogers, Department Head of Biophysical Chemistry and Mathematics, Director of the Biophysical Chemistry Program and Professor of Bioanalytical Nuclear Neurochemistry, allowed Urschel to submit photos to be sent into space that would return NASA ISS certified. To commemorate this great honor, Urschel arranged an all-employee photo, so all of the employees could take part in this achievement. The all-employee photo was part of the inventory on board a SpaceX rocket which launched February 19.
 
Urschel would like to thank Dr. Chimon-Rogers for allowing us to be a part of such a wonderful project, and we look forward to seeing all of the smiling faces of Urschel employees when the photo returns.
