Urschel, a 100% employee owned company, has an opening for a Cost Accountant. The Cost Accountant will administer the monthly accounting and reporting process as required for cost of sales, direct product costs, gross margins, manufacturing variances, and inventory.

Job responsibilities include maintaining the cost accounting system, calculate the annual standard product costs, and support the operations with financial data and analysis that will enable them to evaluate the performance of the manufacturing department, including variance to standards. The operational analysis aspect of this position will include involvement in the company’s capital equipment maintenance and planning process, including the preparation of NPV, ROI and break even analysis to assist in capital decisions following the company’s capital asset request (CAR) process.
The successful candidate must be a hands-on individual with a keen analytical ability and strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will likely have 5+ years of relevant cost and inventory related experience in a capital-intensive manufacturing company. Experience working in a manufacturing environment using an activity based standard cost system is required including an outstanding track record and reputation for financial acumen and quantitative analysis ability. An undergraduate degree, or equivalent certification is required.
